  Julie Fisher joins Foxcroft's Fine Arts Department as the Digital Arts Instructor. In her role, Julie will teach photography classes, supervise and teach in our new Maker Space, and sponsor the yearbook. Since 2005, she has been teaching all levels of Photography, Art 1 and 2, and Graphics at Atlee High School in Hanover County, VA, where she also served as Fine Arts Department Chair and National Art Honor Society Sponsor. One of her accomplishments was implementing an International Baccalaureate program in Visual Arts and Photography at the school.
  
  

  Julie completed a B.F.A. in Studio Art with a concentration in photography at James Madison University and earned an M.F.A. in Photography from New Hampshire Institute of Art. She continues to pursue art at a professional level, showing her work at a variety of galleries and art centers on the East Coast. Her art combines her interests in photography technique and family genealogies, and our students will benefit from this interdisciplinary approach combining art and history.
  
  

  Julie, her husband Rick, and their two children, Rick and Allie, will reside on campus.

  Karin Thorndike

  Born in Illinois, Karin graduated from Naperville, IL Central High School and earned her BA at Roger Williams University, where she honed her passion for acting and directing. Karin came to Foxcroft in 1997 to teach music and has enjoyed wearing many other hats since then, such as being the Fine Arts Department Chair, a member of the Reynolds Dorm team, advising countless clubs, teaching theater, studio art and digital graphics, advising the yearbook staff, coaching JV Tennis, and last but not least, directing the Christmas Pageant.
  
  

  Karin lives on campus with her husband, David, their son Sam, and daughter Krissa. They also share their home with three dogs and two birds. In her spare time, Karin enjoys reading, antiquing, drawing, and doing several DIY projects at once.

  Ginny Riley 

  Digital Media Specialist and Video Production Teacher

  Ginny earned a M.F.A. in Film Production from Boston University and brings her expertise in videography to the Communications and Fine Arts departments. She lived in Los Angeles for six years where she worked as a camera assistant on feature films, music videos, and commercials and then at Panavision, a global motion picture and television camera rental house.
  
  

  Before attending grad school, Ginny earned a degree in Communication from Virginia Tech and worked in the Advancement Department at Foxcroft. She returns to the east coast and to Foxcroft after nine years. She and her pup, Lucy, live on campus. She likes to read, watch TV, play soccer, hike, and visit Disneyland and the beach.

  Rylee Simmons 

  STEM, Dance Instructor, Dorm Parent

  Rylee Simmons attended the University of Maryland, where she earned degrees in both of her passions: mathematics and dance. Before joining the Foxcroft faculty in 2020, she taught both subjects at New Hope Academy in Landover Hills, MD.
  
  Rylee currently teaches PreCalculus and AP Calculus BC, though she has taught a variety of math classes in her time at Foxcroft. She also coaches dance and teaches the brand-new elective Fundamentals in Dance Technique. As the dance teacher, she has worked to provide opportunities for her students both to perform and to watch professional performances. Committed to her own technique, she spends much of each summer attending dance training workshops where she gathers new ideas and information that she can bring back home to Foxcroft.

  Nance Sweet

  Nance Sweet has a B.F.A. in Liberal Studies and a Masters in Art Education. She is AP certified and will be teaching AP Studio Art, College Portfolio submissions, and Ceramics here at Foxcroft.
  
  Nance has taught art classes for 30 years and enjoys the new creative adventures every year. Ms. Sweet also has a theater background in which she has directed, designed sets, and performed in community theater. She enjoys travel, the outdoors, animals, photography, and floral design.
  
  Ms. Sweet’s teaching philosophy is that “Every child has a gift or talent to share. It is my job and honor to find that passion within each student at Foxcroft and help them dip into their heart and create something beautiful. I strive for an innovative, creative, and engaging curriculum to help Foxcroft students reach their full potential.”

  Salvatore "Sonny" Capaccio 

  Music Teacher/Music Coordinator/STEM/Dorm Parent

  Sonny Capaccio comes to Foxcroft from his home state of Connecticut, after living, teaching, and performing there for the majority of his life. He is a Bard College alumnus, where he earned his B.A. in Music with a focus in classical vocal performance. Sonny also earned a concentration in Latin American and Iberian Studies. Throughout college and beyond, he was an instructor and eventually center director of an extracurricular math learning center.
  
  

  Here at Foxcroft, Sonny will be acting as the Music Coordinator and chorale Director, and joining the STEM Department as a math teacher. He is also a dorm parent in Stuart and a resident of Reynolds. In the uncommon occurrence that Sonny finds spare time, he loves to cook, play pool, and root for the Miami Dolphins.
